Well, friends, I could tell you all about the grand opening party (over 200 attendees!), but really, Capitol Hill Seattle did such a good job that you should probably just visit their site.
Get the roundup here!
Please, do drop by from 5-8 p.m.!
Shop Location: 415 E Pine Street (near Summit), Capitol Hill, Seattle
And so here's a bit of what I've been up to:
After doing a mural for Cake Eater Bakery in Minneapolis, what can I say--I was in the mood to mural again. And so in the back of the store, right where I sit, I created a scene which I'm calling "The Battle of Baker's Hill" in which Cake and Pie are about to attack one another with various weapons of shankitude. It makes me smile every time I look at it, I won't lie.
And the pugs helped.
New Stationery
It excites me, possibly a little too much, that I have a credit card machine, new business cards, and a self-inking stamp which have the shop info.
New Stock
This is a gallery that has far more stock than simply my own artwork--and although it is now my working studio and the place from which I write for the site and create CakeSpy artwork (I still bake at home!). So it's exciting to be surrounded by great art and products like Ira Glass Finger Puppets, great new stationery, and cool artwork!
Already I've been able to meet a bunch of super cool customers, some of whom are readers of CakeSpy! So along with selling them cool cards, art, and gift items, I get to chat them up about their favorite bakeries, baked goods, and ideas for future CakeSpy features! Score!
I've also had some celebrities such as Jenny of Purple House Dirt, Tea of Tea & Cookies, Matthew Amster-Burton, Kairu and more stop by!
Awesome Neighbors
My shop is located in Capitol Hill, Seattle, which makes me a neighbor to such awesome businesses as Honey Hole Sandwiches, Traveler's, Oddfellow's, Babeland, Cupcake Royale, Molly Moon's...and so many more!
A Sweet Opening
And it's all coming together for a totally sweet Grand Opening Party on May 8 (that's a Saturday), from 5-8 pm! It's an open house, so feel free to come by, enjoy some delicious Trophy Cupcakes, hear music by Exohxo, see the mural for yourself, and check out my latest series of paintings, entitled "Scenes from Capitol Hill"--it's comprised of all sorts of locals-only scenes, drawn in cupcakes (preview of some works in progress above--yes, that is a cupcake reading Capitol Hill Seattle!).
Of course, if you can't make it to the opening, feel free to shop online at cakespyshop.com and the Bluebottle Art Shop too!
